Yesterday I called in at the “Party in the Park” in Central Park, Wallasey.  The event is organised to promote National Sure Start Week.  It was held in the walled garden within the park, which made it a very pretty setting, and also safe for the children.  Many children were there with parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and carers.  I got to chat with many and they all thought the day was a great success.  It helped that, despite gloomy clouds just prior to the start, the sun came out.  The Mayor of Wirral Cllr. Moira McLaughlin attended and visited all the various activities.

There was much to do for the children including, face painting, balloons, chalk & water play, mini obstacle course, nature trail, melody makers, art activity and a baby area.  There were also infomation stands from the council, fire service and job centre. An excellent day and very well organised by Sarah Porter, who is a Family Support Worker at New Brighton Children’s Centre.
