This morning I attended the opening of The Wirral Recovery Convention at the Floral Pavilion.  The event was supported by about 30 local agencies all concerned with the recovery and rehabilitation of users of drugs and alcohol . Each had a stand full of information and advice, and seminars all day in the main hall.

The convention was opened by Dr. Stefan Janikiewicz who gave a powerful and poignant speech, but lightened by good humour.  I stayed for the first session with many ex users openly expressing their thanks to groups such as Arch Inititiatives, Wirral Drug Service, Phoenix House and the Alcohol Service.  Some of these people were proclaiming that certain services, and the staff involved,  had literally saved their lives.

The event was an excellent way of displaying how much help there is available for those who need it.
