Millhouse Lane Public Meeting

Tuesday, May 4, 2010 posted by Steve Williams

Tonight with Cllr Chris Blakeley I went to the public meeting at the Millhouse Pub regarding traffic calming for the area.  David Rees and Chris Jones from Wirral Borough Council were there to take questions.  David is a Road Safety Officer and Chris a Streetscene Manager.  There were also two officers from Merseyside Police present.

About 50 residents attended and many good questions were raised.  Quite a number of residents had first hand experience of problems caused by the speeding traffic, including damage to their property, and most expressed a fear of what could happen in the future if something wasn’t done.  The council officers and police, having listened to the points put forward, are to look into the issues and we will arrange a further meeting in a few months time to hopefully discuss a way forward.

Spotlight on Youth

Saturday, May 1, 2010 posted by Steve Williams

Had a fantastic night at the Floral Pavilion.  Over 200 youngsters performed, singing, dancing, drama and comedy.  ‘Spotlight on Youth’ is in its 30th year and all the proceeds go the Mayors Charity, last year raising over £4000.  The Mayor and Mayoress were present, as was the Chief Executive of Wirral, Steve Maddox.

On the way out I overheard many people saying how wonderful the show had been.  It’s very refreshing to hear positive comments about the youth in Wirral.  There is much dedication and talent here, and many proud parents.
