The addition of centre line markings is interesting.

RoSPA research about ‘Psychological Traffic Calming” states:

“There are several ways by which the road can be modified to ensure that drivers do not drive at an inappropriate speed. The road width, or perceived road width, can be reduced in order to create the effect of narrowing the road and increase the perceived risk. This effect can be increased by the removal of the central white line.”

Although the surveys wee done during different weeks, it’s interesting to note that a, over each 7-day period, an average 21% were exceeding 35 mph near Tanworth Close but only 3.7% were exceeding 35 mph near Rosewood Drive.

I too will be closing my account there and opening one at the Post Office which is the other alternative to the Bank where Halifax suggested accounts could be but I have a current account with another bank (also moved from Moreton a number of years ago) and it was just as easy to open a savings account at the Post Office to use as my “cash till”. I don’t like using the hole in the wall type of banking.
This is the second time a Building Society has left Moreton – Birmingham Midshires left a number of years ago – transferred to Upton and then they closed so accounts became of the postal variety.

My humble “emergency fund” was banked there. As soon as I got the letter this morning, I closed the account, walked across the road with a cheque and put it in a Barclays ISA which pays a higher rate anyway.

I think it’s a decision that’ll backfire on the Halifax. Hopefully, some of the staff will be absorbed by Jones & Chapman.

I don’t know why there is such a difference between the two payments. I would envisage that the £1.2m paid in April is part of the annual contract payment. I will make a few enquiries, and if it any different to what I’ve summised, I will let you know.
Looks like the system is working, people are asking questions.
